Rad Video for all Your Looks!
I have a slight confession to make…I have been wanting to change my look! I know what you are thinking. Don’t sell out! Well, I’ve always loved playing with outfits and make up. But I’m usually too lazy to go overboard on an average day. I keep saying I’m no longer sewing, but this video makes me think otherwise! Give it a watch and let it inspire your next creation!
I discovered a make up brand that’s fun if you want an alternative look. Medusa’s Make Up carries all vegan cruelty free make up in high voltage colors. I used to be super into Betsey Johnson handbags, and I want to try to make something like that soon too. The way my upcycling goes is I will think of an idea and let it percolate for a few weeks before I take the plunge.
Once I have an idea, I will go through my stash of supplies and gather up materials slowly, over the course of a few days or even a week. Just having the materials on the ironing board or sewing table fills me with anticipation for future crafting! When I am finally in the mood to work on an upcycle, I take my time. Some projects this past year have taken me close to a month. I will do a little bit, stop. Then think about the design some more and come back to it later.
Having a slow method of creation can be of benefit when you are in design mode. It gives your intuition time to fill in the blanks…time to make something just like you desire. Sometimes your first idea might be rushed compared to what you can do when you work more slowly. Of course, if you sew to sell you will want to produce at a much faster pace! When you sew for yourself, you call the shots! I love creating for me more than anything else. I used to feel like I had to produce to make my life meaningful. Now I create to make my life worthwhile!
